Has any body ever made a tip top by tieing a Micro guide to the tip of the pole if so how good did it work. The Rod that I am working on has a tube size of 7.5 but it needs size 6 or less ring size and so far I cannot find one so has anybody made there own like with a Mico guide tied to the tip of the Rod.

It would n;t make a difference if the eye was size 8 on the tiptop because it is the exit guide and there are no others after that
Yes others have used a single foot guide as a tip top and just wrapped it on like a guide and seal it with the thread epoxy.
other wise you need to take a fly rod tip top and cut off the loop so you have a hollow tube and select the size tip top guide size you need cut down the foot of the guide and crimp in and epoxy it on and when you do that make sure the epoxy squeezes out of the guide end and you have a sized tip top.

this is where all the new ideas for guide trains tech is running a foul with the old they re worked the rod guides but forgot about the tiptops

The best day to be alive is always tomorrow !!
Think out side the box when all else fails !!!

Yes, I 've done it, if your using something besides braid, a tip top smaller than a 6 can be a big disadvantage as the stiff line does not like changing direction through a small ring.

Lots of folks tie conventional guides on the ends of ice rods to have the guide that they wish for the tip.

One way that you can accomplish this (in addition to the simple approach of winding on a regular guide) is to find a 3 footed (casting guide) of the size you want' carefully bending the 3-rd (single foot) to conform to the diameter of the rod and wrapping that on as the tip top. This will give you three points of contact with the blank. Others who have posted here are also correct that the size of the tip top guide opening is not critical to the performance of the rod at all. I just see the casting guide as providing a little more security. The single '3-rd leg' goes opposite the line flow

Glenn,
Schneider's has a 5 ring Alps guide in 7.5 tube. They seem to go their own way on some things over there and I like that a lot, they also had micro guides with colored rings in years past.
