So I am lookng at different choices for a striper rod blank that would like to build when I have the $$. I have a couple options I have found so far.
St Croix 2M76MHF St Croix 4M73MHF RainShadow SWS70MH MHX SW70M I have used St Croix in the past but havent used RainShadow and built a MHX trout rod. Anyone have any experience with these blanks to say one would be better than the other? Re: Striper rod options

All good blanks listed above. I build most of my spin rods for striper fishing and I use the bushido LS blanks and the rod geeks carbon 2 blanks. Bushido are my first choice. Good luck Re: Striper rod options

Ken,
I've had nothing but GOOD experiences with the Mudhole MHX SW series blanks. I have at least 1 of each of the 7'ers and a few 8'ers. They're light as a feather and super strong. The carbon fiber checker pattern and high gloss finish look cool too. They're not the straightest blanks I've ever built on but, I prefer to keep mine bent anyway! For saltwater stripers, I'd go with the next size up from the one you list: the SW70MH. I use the SW70M for mahi. Just my 2 cents... Shorts Re: Striper rod options

Sweet! Thanks. I was leading toward the MHX myself as well. I like the St Croix, but I cant really justify spending that much for a rod blank when I go striper fishing maybe twice a year. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
