Winding Check Kits

Hello,
Thinking about purchasing a kit of winding checks so I have a bunch on hand. However, I'm just thinking if it's really worth it? I most likely wont use all the sizes and what I've found looks pretty expensive plus shipping. Just wondering if anyone knows where to find a cheaper kit, or if it's even worth buying.

Thanks,
Jon

It depends upon a couple of things, 1) how broad of size range you need for the rods you build, 2) whether the convenience of having them on hand is worth the cost.

Perhaps a better option is making your own kit of the sizes you use most often and just a few others.

All the kits I am aware of are all approximately the same price.

Jon,
What kind of winding check are you talking about the rubber/plastic ones are pretty inexpensive and will stretch a bit or the expensive metal variety that have to be the right size?

Thanks fro the replies guys,

I'm just looking for some rubber ones. I need afew for my most current build and instead of buying just a few I thought why not buy a whole kit. Thinking about it, maybe I'll just order a fair amount of the most common sizes I use. I don't see my self using every one from a kit so I'll save the $$

winding checks , the rubber / plastic , seem to break over time for me , so where I spend $100 or more PLUS my labor, I will spend a little more to get a metal winding check if I can, they look the best to me
do my best to stay away from the rubber / plastic , Personal to me ,

I purchased the winding checks from Netcraft and waiting for them to arrive. Not sure the different sizes but I thought it would be worth it for the price. Guess Ill see when my order gets here.
