AMTAK MicroLite Guides for Spinning?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows a way to get the 3mm MicroLite Microwave guide set but with a spinning Microwave/transition guide? I've emailed American Tackle 2x and never got a response, so am trying here.

Thanks,

Craig

As far as I know the microwave spinning stripper and transition guides are not sold separately, they only come as part of a kit!

You might have more success contacting Mudhole and asking them. Tell them what you hope to accomplish and perhaps they can help you. As stated above, the stripper and transition guides are sold as part of a set. Perhaps an alternative set can be worked out from another manufacturers products.

Who have you been trying to email at American Tackle?

You can buy the 3mm running guides separately from any of our retailers. The stripper and transition guides are only sold as part of a system with the 5mm running guides.

We sell them as a system because after many years of r&d the system works best as is.

If you even have any AT questions please contact me.

Another option would be to use the ceramic ringed PacBay M guides or the Fuji KLH guides as stripper and reduction guides and set up as a KR concept with the 3 mm runners. The M and KLH guides have the highest frame for a given ring size. If you only want to use the microwave spin stripper, then it appears that your only option is to buy both the microwave spin kit and the 3mm microLite guides separately.

That is nothing like microwave.

Don, I know, I am giving options for Craig to try and build the rod HE wants to build. The option of buying only the microwave stripper and transition guide is not available. The option of buy a microwave spinning guide kit plus the microlite guides is a viable option but more expensive. If he finds that what he wants to do does not work well he can always go back and build it with the microwave kit guides. Another viable option is to drop the use of a microwave stripper and transition guide, and go with a different setup, which would involve using reduction guides and possibly even runners, from another manufacturer. It's his choice. Experimentation is not a bad thing.

I do not believe that using something other than MicroWave is a viable option, and I am not alone.

Craig wants to make a 'micro microwave' spin rod, and I do not know if what he wants to do will work well or not. There is only one way to find out and that is to try it. What does he have to lose, guides are reusable for other builds, and will not go to waste. It is fun to experiment, and try things that are not normally done. Many others have experimented with microguide spin rods that worked quite well for them. I particularly do not like 3mm runners just too small for the way I fish, but others love them.

Thank You all. I may just use the double guide method (of a diy microwave stripper) to test out my theory. I wanted to try the line taming of the stripper combined with the line mgmt. of the smaller micros to see if I would get better distance on a spinner with heavier lures.

Don, in answer to your question, I assumed it goes through email, but it was through the "Contact Us" on your site that I never got answers.

Thanks again folks,

Craig
