I'm still acquiring tools as I need them, and have a few Flex-Coat pilot bits, as well as a set of Dream Reamers. Before I gum up my Reamers (I'm guessing that will happen), was wondering the best practices to use for reaming EVA grips? Thanks in advance for your input!

Actually, EVA really does not gum up a reamer at all. After reaming for a bit, just take a vacuum with a brush and suck any material that is in the reamer - out of the reamer.

Or if you have a have an air compressor with high pressure air and a blow gun, that will also nicely clean out the reaming residue.

I'm sure a situation exists, but I've never encountered a time where I had to ream EVA. That stuff will stretch much more than you give it credit for. Use plenty of epoxy as lubricant, follow proper procedures, and shove that thing down in place...it'll go.

Easier to ream. Eva reams easily with the dream reamers, no gumming up. Just wipe off the EVA dust and you are set to go again.

If youare doing inlays, you will need to ream. Just make your own with Flex Coat reamer abrasive, the Dream Reamers are tos for those who build rods with any kind of diameter...you'll end up having to make your own anyway. If you are just using regaulr solid colro EVA, spend $10 extra and buyall teh ID's, and use the one that fits the best. As Jay said, there is no need to ream solid color EVA

Make sure you consult the FAQs page on this site for EVA installation instructions. You may not need to ream as much as you think, if at all.

The EVA stock I'm looking at has an ID of .35"...Only ID option...and my blank is .85" at the butt. From your comments, I'm thinking that using a drill to get closer to the ID and letting the stretch of EVA is the way to go. That being said, Billy V made the comment that I'll end up making my own Reamers anyway. I'll do a search in case it's already been posted, but would love to know how you'd make them, and what materials I should use? Thanks again for all your input!

I make my own reamers with a dowel, Using a dremel with a cut-off blade I slit, not all the way to the tip, the dowel enough to get a piece of sandpaper in it. Chuck it in your drill and ream away. I have a set from 1/8th to 3/8ths inches.
