Is there any difference other than the 4 inches of length? The butt on the 72MH is listed as slightly larger; both list a size 6 tip top on the Rainshadow site. Re: Rainshadow Immortal Casting Blanks - IMMC72MH vs 76MH?

The 72MH will have a faster action than the 76MH.

Norman, just curious - are you basing that on the specs or have you handled both blanks? Re: Rainshadow Immortal Casting Blanks - IMMC72MH vs 76MH?

Made up the 72MH once for a friend, nice blank. Have not compared them directly, but considering that they are both made from the same material, with the 72MH having a larger butt, shorter length, and same tip top size, it only stands to reason it has to have a faster action.

There's also a 1/2 oz. difference in weight. I've built on the 72MH blank, and it is safe to say that 4" of that blank, regardless of what part of the blank it comes from, does not weigh 1/2 oz. That would lead me to believe that the 76H has thicker walls. And that has to be where the higher advertised power of the 76H blank comes from.
As far as the action of one being faster than the other. I've never touched or seen the 76H blank, so I have not compared the two. But if the walls of the 76H blank are thicker, then I would think it would depend on whether or not the difference in wall thickness runs the entire length of the blank or not. It could be slower, or it could be faster. It all depends on where that difference in wall thickness ends. As I said earlier ... it's safe to say that the extra 4" of length is not going to account for an additional 1/2 oz. in blank weight. Re: Rainshadow Immortal Casting Blanks - IMMC72MH vs 76MH?

David - I was asking about the 76MH, not the 76H. The latter is clearly a much heavier blank. I think the difference between the 72MH and 76MH is less in terms of weight. Re: Rainshadow Immortal Casting Blanks - IMMC72MH vs 76MH?
