Anybody have some advise on the best product for cleaning epoxy from expensive sable brushes?

Ive been using DNA followed by Dawn and hot water. Be interested to hear about something better.

I dunno about expensive brushes, but I have been cleaning my cheap ones with alcohol as soon as I am done using it. No issues thus far.

There's a lot of info on cleaning brushes in the archives or if you just get some Flex-Coat brush cleaner you can skip the lookup.

I prefer to use nylon inexpensive brushes ( 5 cents each) to apply guide finish.

These are essentially the same brushes used by many rod manufacturers.

One mix, and one brush.

I even clean my cheap brushes. After use I wipe the excess epoxy off with a lint free paper towel and put the brush in a used 12 oz water bottle filled a 1/4 way with DNA. I srew the cap on and walk away. After I have a bunch of brushes in the bottle, I remove them and dry them with a paper towel, and they ready to use them again. After a few months I replace the bottle and DNA. I have been using the same brushes for years, with no ill effects.

I used to use a lot of DNA & Kerosene to clean equipment/hands many years ago. After a local business I knew blew up from DNA fumes in their shop, I became very paranoid because of my own lackadaisical (ignorant) practices to the opposite extreme. So I use a small cup of white vinegar to stop the chemical reaction and then later clean my brush with DNA & Dawn Soap by the sink and air dry all my towels before disposal.

U40 brush cleaner is "magic" stuff!

I'm with Roger - since starting on U40 Brush Cleaner I no longer bother cleaning brushes. Just wipe the brush off, drop it into the cleaner and leave it until I need to use it again.

I use disposable "acid brushes". Cheap, use once and toss out. Only thing you need to do is tug on the bristles before using to make sure none pop out when applying finish. They're 1/4" wide so easy to use on butt wraps and can be trimmed to thinner widths for guide wraps.

The store has discontinued the brushes that I used to purchase.

Apparently, these are the same brushes that I typically use. However, the prices have gone up from 5 cents per brush to 25 cents per brush.

One of the nice things about these brushes - either lot - is that the nylon bristles are firmly attached and generally have no issues losing bristles.
