First build ever. Dennis Stone "Cascade"

Hi everyone,

This will be a hollowed 8 foot 5 wt bamboo build.

Looking for alittle info, and going for ultra light hardware.

My plan is for a Fuji torzite striping guide, something around 8-9 mm, one #3 single foot guide from REC, and then single foot #1's to the tip top. Was looking at the HWI SST Titanium tip top, but can only find it in a size 6, is that to big for a 5 wt? Any other recommendations?

Also looking for a all aluminium downlocking reel seat, having trouble finding one.

Thanks for any help!!

A 6 seems large to me; I'd guess a 4.5 or 5 might fit a 5 wt better. Have you measured the tip to know what size the tip truly needs?

The Cascade is a fine tipped rod, I'm sure smaller than a six. I'm out of town for a few days so can't check my build notes. You'll likely get a quicker response if you check in with Dennis. Enjoy the build.

Thanks for the responses! Don't have the blanks yet. Just figuring things out best I can before it arrives. 4.5 or 5 sounds closer to what I've been reading, thank you for confirming. I'll take a peek at anglers workshop.

Also, seems like bamboo has way more guides than graphite. I'm sure Dennis will have placement recommendations.

Thanks again!
