Anybody have any thoughts (advise) on using paracord vs. Atwood cord. Best type of finish, etc Re: parachute cord for grip wraps

Darrel,
If looking for a softer feel / touch, the paracord may be an option. However, and even though paracord is obviously designed to be very strong, I would think the harder and stiffer butt cord (Atwood) would resist surface abrasion better and sharp items (hooks) may not snag on it as easily. If you are one who likes to put thread finish on your butt cord, snags and abrasion may not be as much of an issue. I learned to just put 2 or 3 coats of CP on butt cord. I am admittedly rather new to rod building and have limited exposure with butt cord, but I am certain others more qualified will respond. Don't worry about abrasion resistance of para cord. I have some that I have been using as decoy lines for 15'years Re: parachute cord for grip wraps
