I'm doing a strip/rebuild on an old fiberglass Fenwick steelhead rod. The grips, seat, guides and excess epoxy are all off, and it could still use some TLC. I'm thinking about wet sanding it and refinishing it with permagloss. I've used rod varnish in the past, but I really don't want that much build-up if I can avoid it. Am I on the right track? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jay. Re: Fenwick SH1441 strip/rebuild

yes, Perma Gloss is a very good option. Have used it myself a number of times on fiberglass. Re: Fenwick SH1441 strip/rebuild

Funny I found one of the honey colour in Calgary a few years ago and still have it, it has the spigot ferrule and is a great rod to build up for a beach caster for the great lakes. I believe the age is around mid 80's, maybe wrong but that's my guess Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
