Just curious as to which direction people rotate the rod during application of finish and if everyone applies finish while rotating on a dryer, or by manual rotation and then place in a dryer. So do you have the rod rotating with guides coming at you from the top or from the bottom (make sense?). Also, is the rod setup "handle-left" or "handle-right". Please specify if you apply with left hand or right hand. I am left handed and am starting to experiment with all the above to see if one way is easier or not. Re: Finish rotation

Elrod the main concern is not what direction, speed etc but to find a system that works for you, perfect it and stay with it, thats not to say you can't try something different but stay with your system untill you have perfected a better one,use scrap for pratice. Re: Finish rotation

I have got 2 motors, one goes each direction, doesn't really make a difference to me, except that I like the faster of the 2 Re: Finish rotation

For me, which direction the butt is on doesn't matter. But I do like to have the top of the rod traveling away from me. It makes it easier for me to see the lay of the finish against the contrasting background. I have a reversable turning motor, which I never use, but could.
