Hello forum it has been a while since I posted. I have a couple questions. I am in the process of information gathering. At this point it is strictly information so as when I do make my next rod I have all the right things in place to make a functional flyrod. Where I live and fish there are a couple smaller rivers that my spey rods are too long for. I used to fish these places until I hurt my shoulder and can no longer fish single handed style rods. With the newer style OPST lines available it has me wondering which would be the proper way to build a short spey type rod. I would be looking at a 9,6 or 10 foot total length 8-9 weight. Would I be better off epoxying a shorter fighting but style extension into the bottom or moving the reel seat up a bit and making the short handle below the reel seat. There is also the option of the reel seat that has a screw in fighting butt extension. Any experienced opinions advice about would be greatly appreciated. RB

I Know Bob personally and have one of his fine rods. Great guy but I am looking at the possibility of using fiberglass for this rod.

Excellent point William It is How I would prefer to do things. I am just gathering information from people that do this all the time. I only build once every 3-4 years.
