fiberglass resin

can anyone tell me if i can use liquid fiberglass resin that is made for cars and boats & other things if i can use it on my fishing pole after i replace a broken line guide? my email address is johncuster996@yahoo.com

It isn't necessarily the correct material, but it would coat the thread and make it waterproof.

Again, not the product for the job...but should work for a last minute repair that HAS to be done NOW. I would strip it when time allowed and properly repair later.

You say "resin", but there are resins that are not waterproof.

I would suggest using epoxy resin that was developed for rod building.

If it's a polyester resin it's not going to be super flexible. Expect some cracking and eventual chipping.
