Not sure what I did (or didn't do), but the finish on the wraps on my last build never completely set up. Done this a bunch of times and never had this problem before. So do I need to remove the sticky mess and start over, or can I put another coat (definitely will use a new batch of finish) over the top and everything will be "fine?" Open to all ideas, hints and suggestions.

sounds like you didn't make a good batch a bit shy on the hardener so I would remove it and do a new coat because it it is soft now and over coating it would affect the new coat as well

The easiest thing to do, is to cut off the guides and mess and start over.

I am guessing that you have mixed your epoxy with two parts of either a or b - rather than one of each.

Don't ever put another coat of epoxy over a coat that has not cured.

Really the same thing as building a house on sand. Bad foundation - bad results.

It seems to me that you have undermixed the finish. If you can scratch the finish with your thumb nail, then you should take it off and start again. If not, you can re-coat with a well mixed finish and it will last 20 years as opposed to 100 years.

If the finish is really soft - loose, runny, etc., you can wipe it off with a latex gloved finger and go again. Otherwise, do as John suggested above.

When did you apply the epoxy...how long has it been?

Where has it been in the meantime? In the basement? In a temperature regulated part of the house?

Did you save the pot you mixed the epoxy in? If so, how does it look? PS...always save the pot.

did not set up ???? is it runny ? tacky ? if runny R & R it start over , if tacky what is the temp that will effect the set up time ,put in the sun A couple of day's to see if it will set up for you , PLUS any or all the problems above will effect your problems ,

There in is always the potential of the unforeseen. As Jay mentioned, ALWAYS save the mixing pot (cup) to assist diagnosing issues which may have occurred, be it wrap finish, spackle for the bathroom or laminating epoxy for a race car tub repair!
