I had to build a new ultralight panfish ice rod because my last one was in 3 pieces after we moved to our new house. I went shopping for hard cases but just didn't want to spend the money.
I was looking around in the shop for a way to reinforce my soft case when I spotted a piece of Walmart pool noodle left over after I made up a bunch of walleye spinner rigs. Just for the heck of it I tried sliding it over the rod and found that all the guides cleared, and it fit snugly on the handle. I trimmed it to size and it fits great in the case. I can still fit three rods in there. [www.rodbuilding.org] _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming.
