I will say that nigh time trolling for walleye can be such that the walley's are hanging in a foot of water and need to have a very shallow lure to catch them.

When the frogs are running, we will often cast to shore so that the lure is on the shore. Then, we will pull the crank bait into the water and often the big walleyes will be lurking in the very shallow water - just waiting for a big juicy frog to jump into their mouth.

Yes, walleyes do eat frog when the frogs are doing their fall running to shore and back.

I know walleyes will hit topwater but never heard of anyone building a rod for it. I'm guessing he made a paste error?

FYI - I used to do a lot of shore casting for walleye at night. Once, my line came of the spool in a ball of crap and I was messing with it when I heard a big splash and felt a tug. A nice eater sized walleye had hit my Bagely floating minnow crank. I pulled him in hand over hand. I also had a guy tell me that his "older" coworker did a lot of night fishing for walleyes and his top producer was a red & white Bass O Reno slowly crawled on top.
