Thanks Roger. I am also interested in what appears to be a very good concept. Has anyone used these? Mark Talmo FISHING IS NOT AN ESCAPE FROM LIFE BUT RATHER A DEEPER IMMERSION INTO IT!!! BUILDING YOUR OWN SIMPLY ENHANCES THE EXPERIENCE. Re: First ever reel seat failure!

I saw them in their catalog a while back but I have not yet found any retailers who sells them.

Just to add my two (and, probably, un-needed) cents: I also use dry wall tape, however I apply it in two stages for the concerns mentioned above. I put on two or three wraps on the blank, and then use a spatula/palette knife to force a fast setting epoxy into the mesh. This secures a base to the blank. When set, I then wrap dry wall tape until I get a tight fit for the reel seat. If the blank has a gloss finish, I sometimes 'rough' it up a bit at area the tape will cover.
Edit to add: Back when I did use foam arbors, after my first effort had failed miserably, I started epoxying the arbor to the reel seat first. Then, I reamed it to fit the blank. To me, this seemed the only logical way to do it without causing the foam to disintegrate, at worst, or lose its structural integrity, at best. Since all my builds were light rods for bass, the reel seats were, typically, only a wee bit longer than the arbors. When I glued the arbor into the seat, I positioned it to create small recesses at each end of the tube. When I applied the epoxy gel/paste to the blank, the act of sliding the reel seat into position filled these recesses with the gel/paste, strengthening the position of the reel seat. I always assumed this is how everyone else did it, but from reading the above responses again, I'm not so sure. Just saw this, the PacBay omni arbor. They go up to a size 20 reel seat. May try a few.
