If you want to try the Microwave style set up, and want to try a light inserted steel ring, try a set of AirWaves on your next build. The MicroWave guides will work fine on the drop shot rod too.

Thanks Randy. The weight of the Minimas has me excited!

One last suggestion that I have used with GREAT success: Use the Duralite Microwave guides but just the first three. Then for the runners use the (KF4KG) minimas the rest of the way to the tip top. The TiCH frame with TiCH ring are a close match. That combination has been phenomenal for me and my clients. Plus i'd use the KP4KT - TICH FRAME W/TiCH RING as the tip top. You will never loose a ring and they are very light.

As Norman recommended, I will use Minima M guides for the reduction and #5 runners and #5 tip for the drop shot since it's a medium. I'm going to put the microwave reduction set on the 6'2' ML I'm doing. I'll do the runners and tip as you recommend. Thanks for the advice. My buddies will be so jealous! Utmost has been a good find for me to buy from too!

Well, the two spinning rod builds went well. I purchased RX7's instead of the Immortals. I used the KR concept with Minima M #20-10-6 and F #5 runners wih TiCh tip tops on both. Did basic wraps with NCP thread colors emerald green (bit dark) and scarlet red (nice maroon). The MH spinning rod I scraped, refinished with a orange sharpie with latex poly urethane turned out a transparent brown clearly showing the graphite blank beneath. Used a CF thread in camo that isn't bad but now I wish I would have used NCP light brown or medium yellow to compliment the blank color. I ended up scraping down a silver Shimano 6' spinning rod, wrapping the microwave guide set I had at their recommended spacing with a medium green NCP thread. Also nice. If I was to compare the looks these four builds, #1 drop shot, (uplocking aero reel seat w/maroon wraps and black framed Minima guides), #2 MH spinning rod to MH crankbait rod (Minima split trigger reel seat, transparent brown blank, set of decent ceramic casting guides w/camo CP thread), #3 Shimano redo because of the microwave guide set and kelly green NCP thread. Thanks to those recommending the Minimas. I scaled the set and it did weigh less than a comparable ceramic stripper guide. I'd give myself a B+ on the build quality. Performance tests come later.
