Guys, I need help, I build bass rods and one of my big customers is wanting a pan fish rod. He has decided on 7'6" length, Lite action with a fast tip. He always buys upper end and I am lost on this one. It will be a spinning rig and 1 pc. I have seen a few blanks out there but they seem very cheap for what they are and there is usually a reason for that??

Any help is appreciated!

I think you mean fast action with a light tip. Action is where the rod bends, light, medium, heavy, etc. refer to power. There should be plenty of quality blanks out there that fit this bill.

St Croix 3, 4, or 5S76MLXF. Has the tip of an ultralight, backbone of a ML. Have caught everything from panfish to steelhead on my 5S version. If you've ever fished a G Loomis PR8400, or Shikari P, IP, or PP700 rod blanks, or rods, it's same action/power, but with a bit lower powered tip.

Take a look at the Phenix K2 blanks. Pricey; but they are really sweet!

Yes sir, sorry, Medium power rod with a fast tip. Thanks for the tips guys, I'll take a look at the k2 and ST Croix.

don't forget about the Batson Eternity's, Immortals as well as the Northforks. HM and IM.

Batson revelation REVS72UL. Its 7'2" But it could easily be extended it to 7'6". Hands down the best Panfish rod I have ever had in my hands. I use mine for everything from throwing a split shot and #12 Aberdeen hook for gills and redears on the beds to slip bobber fishing with a minnow or a small jig for Crappies. It is sensitive enough to tight line on the beds and still feel the bite, soft enough to not rip Crappies lips but with enough backbone to turn big redears before they wrap you up in the weeds. I have even used mine a time or two for small mouth bass in the river. I currently have 6 rods built for myself that never leave the boat and have built several others for avid Panfish anglers around here. They all agree, Batson hit it out of the park with this blank. Give one a try, your customer won't be disappointed.
Tight Lines

I recently built a spinning rod on the Phenix K2 Blank rated for 3-10LBS line and really like the way it cast with a Penn Conflict 2500. They make a 7'6" version that will fit the build you are doing but it is very pricey at $250.00. It is model: TX-763ML-S. If your client likes top end and is willing to pay I would go with Fuji Torzite High Frame K guides. Very light and you can get the appropriate height with acceptable spacing for just about any reel.

Point Blank is pretty damn good
