How does the action on a MHX blank compair to a Loomis because when I look a the MHX M/H compared to a Loomis M/H the specs are much different. I was looking to go the MHX way but I want a M/H blank that would compair to a Loomis M/H so should I go with a MHX HVY action instaid just to make it more like the Loomis. Also this will be a shooting type rod and I will be using from 20lb braided line to 30 Lb braid with a lure WT in the 3/8 to 1/2 most of the time and it is a 6ft Rod with 14 inch handle
Any help would be great. Glenn McMurrian Re: MHX action vers Loomis action

I think you're talking about power, not action. Action is fast, medium, slow, etc. while power is light, medium, heavy, etc. From there I would use the specs for things like lure and line weight and try to match things up.

Glenn,
I would give Mud Hole a call and ask them to match the action of the blank that you are trying to match. There are lots of very knowledgeable folks at Mud Hole and one or more of them may have the very rod that you are trying to match so that they could match it to the appropriate MHX blank. A lot of the Loomis blanks have a rather unique construction with their material choice as well as blank wall thickness. As a result, you may find it difficult to get any blank to be a close match to the rod that interests you. Good luck Re: MHX action vers Loomis action
