A stationary, fully bent spinning rod with a half-ounce weight balanced on its tip can't propel that weight more than 5 yards, nor could a stationary, fully bent fly rood propel any length of fly line more than 10 feet. That stuff about all the "stored energy" in the rod blank is just that: stuff. A rod is a class 3 lever. It's purpose is to accelerate a load, and it can store only a tiny bit of energy. The distance of the cast is equal to the angle of release and the velocity of the load [total weight of line and attachments outside the tip-top] at the moment of release, minus wind resistance and the friction from the reel and anything the line touches. Imagination and make-believe are more fun, but reality does prevail. Rod builders can only reduce rod weight, which increases peak acceleration, and minimize line contact with the blank and the guides, which decreases friction. Why I can't stand Diawa : a 2500 series measures the same as a Shimano 4000? Which measures what? When you ask for guide size recommendations, it helps if we know the spool dia. Or at least I thought it did. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/08/2016 09:51PM by Lynn Behler. Hello Jim.
It was "General William Tecumseh Sherman" in the 1884 election, he was Republican. The winner was the first Democrat in the office, Glover Cleveland, he ended up running against James G. Blaine. Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines. Bob, New Bern, NC. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
