Rod blank for red drum sound kayak fishing

Looking for a rod blank that has more power than the 8-14lb spinning popping rod for going after red drum in small waterways lined with thick grass. .I fish mainly using cork with Gulp shrimp on jig, jigs and spinnerbaits. I am thinking that a casting reel would give me more control in these conditions. Looking at Hydra NG mag bass, Anglers Workshop 10-20 spin jig, liberty mag bass 10-17 and Black Hole 701L inshore. I take good care of my rods so I want something light but still durable for kayak fishing.

How about the IP844, IP845 & 965 or the XP844, & XP845 from Batson, Schneider's has them on sale. A little faster actioned ISB844 maybe also.

My bread and butter in the Chesapeake Bay is light tackle speck and pup rods. The American Tackle Bushido LS7/10-20 should be prefect for your needs.. Great blank for the type fishing you described.

PB731MHXF POINT Blank. Great action for popping a cork and super sensitivity for hopping a Gulp across the bottom. Hi -mod, very fast, VERY light. Huge lower section power.

Thanks for the recommendations. I am looking forward to the ICRBE to check out these blanks.

How does the Pac Bay Quickline popping 844 compare in power and action?

Thanks

From the RainShadow lineup (which Spencer picked some nice ones) we'd also recommend:

Immortal IMMP70MH & IMMP76MH - True high performance and high modulus blanks at a great price - [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com]

REVELATION REVIP80MH & REVIP80H - [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com]

David -

I do a BUNCH of this kind of fishing these days down in South Louisiana. The best I have ever found are the Point Blank

PB731MHXF, PB731MHF and the PB701MHF. They are perfect and durable enough for kayak fishing.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Bill
