Hi all. Has anyone built a rod on this blank and if so, what are your thoughts?
I'm considering it for a river smallmouth rod, casting spinners (size 2-3) and soft plastics/jigs under floats. My favorite river has some decent smallmouth in it which are fun on lighter steelhead gear so I thought this blank may fit the bill. thanks Tom. Re: MHX ST1142 steelhead blank

I have built on the ST 1143 as a float n' fly spin rod for bass and crappie. It also throws small jigs and spinners quite well. The people I built for liked them a lot. I assume that ST1142 will work just fine it's just a little lighter.

I have used the MHX 1025, built for casting 1/2 to 1 1/2 ounce lures to schoolie stripers. The blank is nice and light, but I found it to be a slower action than some comparable blanks from other manufacturers. I don't know that this relates to the 1142, so it would be good to hear back from others to learn of their opinions.
