Is there a difference between the actions/ the efficiency of the cast of multi piece fly rods. one piece is probably best all things considered but not easy to transport. It seems multi piece rods would a bit less efficient in a number of areas. Re: 2 piece fly rod or 3/4 piece fly rod

with all the new ROD"S out there today it is real hard to tell the difference , there could be a few
people that can tel them apart but I sure can't on the good rods cheep ones I don't know about them, don't build on them William Sidney AK Re: 2 piece fly rod or 3/4 piece fly rod

Modern multi-piece rods come very, very close to mimicking the performance of single piece rods in every way. So close, in fact, that if blindfolded, most anglers couldn't tell the difference.

I only build 2 and 3 piece spinning rods and 4 piece fly rods. I don't think single piece rods are any better as far as action is concerned. Any difference is far outweighed by the ease of storage and travel. Re: 2 piece fly rod or 3/4 piece fly rod

Like-for-like a 2pc fly rod is a little lighter in the hand than a 4pc.
But after all gear is added it is very hard to tell the difference. The big difference is in the brands. there are some premium fly rods that are have a heavier swing-weight than others. I build only 4pc fly rods for my personal fly rods and except for some fresh water designated fly rods - most customers buy 4pc blanks. Herb Distrib. CTS Rod Blanks.
