Jason
They are similar designs and both are solid performers for wrapping and finish work. I have what is essentially the Forecast version and have no complaints. Some things to think about are: (1) While both can do a passable job turning cork, using them to turn cork is maybe not such a good idea as the cork dust gets everywhere and you will spend a lot of time cleaning before wrapping or finishing; (2) Don't expect a large increase in production throughput or decrease in time wrapping. You can make errors faster, but not make wraps a whole bunch faster. It's not fair, but it is the way it is; (3) Give yourself some time to come up ti speed, especially with regard to the speed controlling rheostat and thread tensioning; (4) Buy an extra drive belt and always have a spare on hand. Drive belts fail at the worst possible times with little to no warning; (5) An 8' wrapper is wonderful, especially for the longer 1 and 2 piece rods. The downside is it does need an 8' table / work bench, and; (6) Don't forget to level each rod before finishing. Good luck. Re: Power wrapper?

Thanks for the input i decided to upgrade my handwrapper to the flex coat sw1. With the money saved i ordered up materials for my next 2 builds. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/16/2016 12:29PM by Jason Gofron. Re: Power wrapper?

Jason,
You can make your own power head and simply add it to your hand wrapper - depending on what your hand wrapper looks like. Good luck Re: Power wrapper?

Batson makes the best chuck upgrade on the planet. It's not fun to put in but once you do it's really fantastic. I would get the model that has the upgraded chuck. I found only positive benefits going from hand wrapping to power. The machine will have a speed control start slow and as you get more confidence boost the speed. Well worth the dough Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
