Hi to all and hoping you are so well, it isn’t fair to the rest of us.
Are any of you familiar with, used, heard of or know anything about vintage “Pactra Rainbow Rod Varnish”? I found this 2oz glass jar in my Dad’s old tackle box and would like to know more about it. Being 94, Dad can’t remember having / using it let alone when he purchased it. I’m estimating early 50’s but he could have purchased it prior to enlisting in WWII. Just curious if it is “Crap, throw it away”, “similar to all the rod varnish of the day”, or “I’ll give you $1000.00 for that little jar”. It still appears to be good, has the consistency of Perma Gloss but I have not opened it. Heck, I’ll save it for use on vintage repairs if it’s worth it. I remember building model cars back in the 60’s when I was a young whipper-snapper and always used Pactra paint because it was so much better than Testors, the only other available paint brand available at the time. Jog those ‘ol memory banks! Mark Talmo FISHING IS NOT AN ESCAPE FROM LIFE BUT RATHER A DEEPER IMMERSION INTO IT!!! BUILDING YOUR OWN SIMPLY ENHANCES THE EXPERIENCE. Most likely it is a nitrocellulose lacquer. Not really much good compared to what we have available these days, but it is a novelty you might want to hang onto for that reason alone.
