Oversize tip tops

Is there any readon why there are no 7 tip sized 10 ring Fuji tips? If I wanted to build a spinning surf rod which has a size 7 tip and a 8 ring, I am forced to use size 8 running guides to match the tip size. I am sure there are situations where a larger ID tip, such as a size 7 with a 10 ring would allow me to use larger size 10 running guides and allow knots to slip through easier.

Am I off base??

Billy,
Fuji does make a tip in silicon carbide with a #7 tube and a #10 ring.
The number is PST 10-7. Check with some of the sponsers to see who carries them. I know Merrick Tackle has them in their catalog.
Good luck,
Joe

Joe - Thanks for making an ____ out of me. Had I checked Merrick instead of 2 other catalouges and a web site, i would've found what I am looking for. They also have them in Hardaloy, as well as tip-tops labelled as Surf Tops. Duh.

Obviously, i have never built a surf rod, but plan to this winter. I can't believe I posted this.

Just for your info guys, Fuji has launched their "Super Ocean Guides" and they have tips with ring sizes of up to 16H. I am currently making my order of these tips from Japan and will use these huge tips on my popping rod. Not to mix up the freshwater bass popping sticks, the popping rods I am talking about are used to catch ULUA aka GT. Using 10H tips, we use to have trouble getting the 150lb wind-on leader through the tiny tip on the cast. Now, with the new 16H tip sizes, casting distance will definitely increase.Billy 40 wrote:
