looking for ice rod blank, open to graphite or fiberglass, at least 30" in length prefer longer that will work well for jigging heavier jigs in deep water for lakers. Typical set up is full sized spin or baitcast reel, braid, floro leader.

Would one of the old 5 ft. 6 in. 10 - 20 lb. rated bass rod blanks be to long? Re: suggestions for lake trout ice rod blank

Buzz,
Batson solid glass blank are perfect for this application. I have built several hundred trout rods using the .385 x 72" solid glass blank. I just trim from the end of the blank to achieve the overall length that I would like to use for the rod. I buy from my distributor in bulk so I just pay the one time shipping charge when Batson drop ships the blanks. When purchased in quantity, with shipping spread across the bulk order, the price per blank is about $12. [www.rainshadowrodblanks.com] Tough tough blank that works wonderfully well in the cold of winter for trout, pike and big walleye. I buy prebuilt grips and build the rods as a tennessee style tape on the reel rod. Hands never touch any plastic or metal so warmer to use in the winter out of doors which is the way that most of my clients use the rods. Be safe Edited 1 time(s). I believe that they are mainly running spoons and jigs in the 1/4-1/2 oz range. Re: suggestions for lake trout ice rod blank
