How To Engrave Natural Cork Handles

I have been looking into building a natural cork handle with a fish engraving and ran across a few very nice examples while doing my search online. I have built a couple of rod handles with engravings in the past. I would use an x acto knife to carve the image in the natural cork handle then glue thin slices of burnt burl corks and fine lathe the handles down.

While doing my search online I ran across a website that has a picture of a bunch of rod handles with very intricate engravings. Plese see attached link below. I was just curious how they did this. Thanks in advance!

If I'm looking at the correct photos, I believe those are "burned" onto the cork - pyrography.
