Need help identifying guides

I have an Abu Garcia Veritas spinning rod that needs one guide replaced. Do any of you happen to know what guides are used on this rod? The rod belongs to a friend, just want to replace the one that is missing, if I can match it. Thanks.

Have you tried calling or emailing Abu Garcia?

I had a similar situation in the recent past. I called the company and was told their guides were made specifically for them and not available to the public. So, I matched the guide needing replacement as close as possible by its looks.

Randy, Ross is correct. I have one on the dryer right now. A family friend broke one on a recent trip to Canada and I quick fixed it with thread and nail polish. When we got back I got the rod to properly repair it and he requested I replace them all. Using ALPS xbytlg models which are pretty close to the originals. I was able to start with a #20 stripper instead of the the original #25 and the first 3 from the tip back are #6 Alps fly guides. The set I removed weighs 7 grams, the new set weighs 4.22 grams. (7 guides). I can recommend changing them all because they seem to break on a regular basis. If careful you can unwind the old thread just far enough to remove the guide thus keeping those small silver single thread trim bands intact and wrap from there up over the new feet. Worked a treat for me! Rod is rated for 6-10 lb. line but is used only with 8lb.

It costs too much,if replace all guides. The guides of Veritas is titanium material with zicronium insert, more expensive. And there are 6+1 , or 7+1 guides on the spinning rod.

I don't claim to know what the original guides were. I do know they break a lot and the total for the replacements was $10.20 before shipping. These rods cost $100.00 new. I suspect the original guides are titanium in color only.

I too called ABU Garcia and was told there are no parts for their rods available in the US. As was said above tthe good news for rod builders is that the guides on them break easily and often. On the Veritas a Fuji CLNAG on the double foot or CLAG in the fly guides is a very close match and a far better product. I have done a few of total replacement guides but when you figure that the rod can be bought on sale for $79 how much are they willing to pay is the problem.
