Had a guide request a 10' 2wt for nymphing. Having trouble locating a blank for a reasonable price (near $100 or so). Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

You need a stiff rod for nymphing - to get that in a #2 for $100 is a tall order.
The CTS FX1002 is $306 + shipping. Herb Distrib CTS rod blanks Re: Help finding a fly blank please.

I'd ask the question also on places like the ultralightflyfishing forum.
Such blanks do exist but the bigger / well known manufacturers usually offer a 10ft blank in 4weight. MHX, PacBay Quickline, etc, all are responsive, very light, straight, good looking blanks, with fast actions and not much tip heaviness, but will load better with a 5weight line. There is also the Hook Hackle Xi, definitely within the price range, but comes in a 3weight and you'll have to call and ask for details regarding the specs. On their website, it's a 4.5tip .380butt 2.0oz blank and on their catalog is a 4.0tip .330butt 1.5oz (the Xi 1034B). I would label the Xi as a fast blank. H&H lists it as a med-fast. All other sources will most likely be exotic. I am from Europe and I can definitely say that there is a blank in Poland called ignis nano, fast action, 4piece, 10ft, 1weight !! And it costs 615 PLN (that's 150USD). Dunno if the shipping costs would be similar to those for a cts blank. Re: Help finding a fly blank please.

Go with the CTS FX-1002-4 that Herb mentioned, I just delivered one to a guy on the Irish National Team this past spring. the guy loves it, he wanted it for small nymphs, smaller than #20 on gin clear streams in Europe.
The CTS blanks will easily rival or exceed the stuff the USA market is making in my opinion. Re: Help finding a fly blank please.

Thanks for the help everyone. I tried talking him into the CTS but it is too expensive for him. I'm basically donating this build in exchange for some free advertisement. He agreed to pay $200 for materials. I hesitate to build for free and shell out extra dough to cover extra expenses as I'm not sure how many potential customers will actually get to use the rod.
I unhid my email as well. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
