quick question on marbling

so im building a new rod for me and i would like to try out my first marble so im testing this on a blank i wont use anymore, im starting with black then ill try more colors but when i was applying the black marble i notice that when the light was too bright (flashlight) the black didnt seem like black anymore and more towards brownish color is it something i did wrong here?? i was mixing 3ccs with th crb marbling pigments on a lite build epoxy

it does not look like a dark black looks more like a light black it is an obvious color change

If over a blank I wonder if it could be the blank color showing though
If so maybe paint the area with black paint and then marble it

i added more pigment to the epoxy and after 5 hours the epoxy its not even tacky still very liquidy it was a lite build epoxy

Jose,

For your next experiment, you might want to try the Pearl ex pigments. They are a dry pigment, with a slight metallic look, and they don't change the chemical balance of the epoxy.
