Can someone explain to me how I would accomplish a fad wrap like this: [].
I understand the color patterns, but I don't understand how to physically accomplish it. Any help would be appreciated. The only fade wraps I can do is when I run two different color lines together, but that is not the pattern that looks very nice. Re: Fade wrapping

All you're doing to adding one additional thread of one color while dropping one from the previous. Like this-
5 Dk Blue 1 Lt Blue 4 Dk Blue 2 Lt Blue 3 Dk Blue 3 Lt Blue 2 Dk Blue 4 Lt Blue 1 Dk Blue 5 Lt Blue Make sense? ............... Re: Fade wrapping

Yes the pattern makes sense, never had a problem understanding the patter, the problem is actually making the pattern.
I guess what I don't get is how to set up the pull through strings to ensure that after I put, "1 line of LT blue" I have a loop already set up to tuck it under. Something tells me there is an easier way. Just too inexperienced to see it. DB Re: Fade wrapping

Hi David, I have done a fade wrap that does not involve a pull through. If you can do an inlay of another color as you would for accent in a wrap of your main thread, you can do the same for a fade wrap. As you transition from your main thread ON color, you inlay one wrap of introduced color and lay it on the blank in the direction your going. Over wrap the introduced color with say 5 wraps of ON color. Bring the introduction color back and do a 2 wrap inlay, then lay it over the blank again and reduce the main ON thread by 1 turn to 4. Repeat until you are down to 1 wrap of on color and 5 wraps of introduction color. I like to do that and then a decorative inlay in the middle with maybe Olive branching and then go back to the fade wrap in reverse of the first fade. That brings you back to the original ON thread color.
Hope this helps, I'm no expert, but it was a first attempt for me and it worked great by just doing inlay turns. Curt Baker does inlays like that on u tube. Very simple and effective. Regards Mark Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
