Is there any reason to use a fast action over a Med Fast action on a flipping rod for distance or accuracy.

It depends. If you're trying to cast or flip a light lure/jig, you might prefer a blank with a fast, light tip, to generate some velocity to the bait while retaining some good power for fish fighting or pulling a fish out of heavy cover.

When walleye fishing the one tip is a bit softer than the other tip which allows you to better sense the light biters.

In a true flipping presentation, there is no difference between the two actions as far as distance is concerned. Distance is dictated by the length of line in use. I've yet to use a flipping stick with a medium fast action, so I can only postulate as to whether one action would be more accurate than the other. I would think that a fast action would allow a person to make presentations under low lying objects more easily because of something that Tom mentioned. And that is that a fast tip would generate more velocity to the bait.

If you're talking about pitching, then yes, I believe a fast action has an advantage over a medium fast action in both distance, and accuracy. A fast action will load the tip more easily and generate more velocity which increases distance. And the easier loading tip of a fast action, enhances accuracy.

IMO the difference most noticeable to an angler is going to be in hooking, fighting, and landing fish. I'm sure others opinions will vary, but to me, a fast action is better for moving fish, and gives a more positive hook set. But, a fast action can, and at times does lead to lost fish. Especially if one is using braided line. Because braid has little to no stretch, your line can go slack much faster than a line that stretches. Also, since flipping and most likely the majority of pitching is using shorter lengths of line, even a line with some stretch can and will go slack more quickly because of the faster action.

A medium fast action will keep your line tight, and keep fish buttoned up. As I said earlier .... I have yet to use a flipping or pitching rod with a medium fast action, but with that said, unless the rod with a medium fast action is quite a bit more powerful than its fast action counter part, I don't see how it could move fish as well as a fast action rod does.
