I'm building a 2pc. swimbait-flippin-umbrella rig and God knows what else casting rod and would like to use this guide train: from the reel: Minima 3 double foot- 12-08-06-06, then Minima 4 single foot fly guides in size 05 out to the tip. This rod will probably use a max of 20lb. mono - flouro, anything heavier will likely be braid. Does this sound like a workable guide train? (stout enough) Any suggestions welcome, but I'd like to stay with Minimas. Thanks, Lynn

Probably although I'd get rid of all the extra sizes and just do something like 12 - 6 and then 5's on out to the tip. I assume you're using double foot guides here.

Tom, my intent was to use double foot for the 1st four from the reel and then go with single foot to the tip. If you think they should all be double foot, then so be it. A rod this heavy is out of my normal realm. Thanks, Lynn

Those guides are so light and that blank fairly powerful, so I think I'd err on the side of a little more guide toughness and go dbl foot all the way.

x10 on Tom's comment about the use of the double foot guides.

An umbrella rig can cast quite heavily and thus, can put a pretty big load on the guides.
