Help with finding supplie

Hi, I am wanting to get into rod building, not for business just for personal use. I only want to build ice fishing rods. I recently bought a custom rod and love it, just that it was quite spendy and I think I can build them myself and is something I think would make nice gifts for people.I am having trouble finding a lot of places that just carry ice rod blanks. I been searching around trying to find the best places for cheapest guides, cork, dryer, blanks, thread, epoxy, etc. Any help to get pointed in the right direction helping to find the best value for my buck would be greatly appreciated. You can post on here or email me at Brett_daddy@hotmail.com. Thanks

Brett,
One of the biggest places where you can save money is to use something other than cork for a grip. Any more, with the dwindling supply of cork, it is harder and harder to get really nice cork for a reasonable price.

But, you can do some searches and there are quite a few vendors selling ice rod blanks including many of the sponsors on the left.

fwiw, I was like you and wanted to build an ice rod specifically the way I wanted it. My first build was for practice and when others saw it they asked if I could do one for them. Now I have rods to build for others and still haven't done my original big fish ice rod.

I found rod builing to be a great hobby and very relaxing. I think you'll find it addictive and always wanting to do something better on the next build. Just like potato chips, I doubt you can stop until they're gone! I've been using MHX blanks from mudhole, a sponsor listed on the left.

Enjoy and have fun!

Mud Hole Custom Tackle, - MHX brand blanks. They have kits if interested or put together your own components. Ice blanks are great, great selection.
