Hi all, as you know the Ohio Rod Builders will be hosting a Gathering Sat. March 12 in North Canton, OH. To RSVP, or for more info, please contact Joe Vanfossen ([email protected]) or Herb Tidrick ([email protected]).

We are pleased to announce that Mark Crouse will be joining us this year, and plans to talk about pyrography techniques in custom rod building. For those who know Mark and his reputation, it will be well worth your while to attend. We are really looking forward to it!

The clock is ticking ...

Joe

Thanks Phil. My spelling is fixed. We only hose people with warm water and the finest hoses decorated with elaborate closed cross wraps.

Sounds like a great time.
We'll put state rivalries aside and let you know that all you Ohio builders are more than welcome at the Michigan rod builders gathering on April 2.

Joe and Gary, We had our 1st Ohio gathering of rod builders 5 or 6 years ago. I think Don Morse started Michigan rod builders the following year.
After you had the first one Don and I talked about joining forces and having one half way between your gathering point and ours. It never materialized since we never followed through with it.

I am no longer leading the orbs, as Don is no longer with you guys. My wish would be for two or three from each group determine the half way mark geographically and set up a several hour meeting and bring us together. If you do this it needs to be done before late spring gets here as it will be much harder to pull off than a local gathering and we can`t wait until fall unless you want to do it in 2018. If we wait I am afraid it will fall through the cracks again. It could make a day and 1/2 gathering. We already draw from five states and we could draw from Canada too.

If interested you two talk and set up a day to meet. I will be able to attend if you want me too.

Joe....This will be my first breakfast that I missed so why don`t you talk to the guys and see what they think of the idea.

Bill

Bill,

I'll put it on the agenda. This week will be your first missed breakfast, huh. That is a pretty good run!

I think we've drawn from at least 7 states, OH, MI, WI, NY, PA, WV, and SC, over the years.

Gary,

You guys are always welcome at our Gatherings as well. We were fortunate enough to have the late Mike Barkley grace our presence at our first Gathering. I haven't checked the link lately to see if it still works, but I put up a link on the ORBS blog to the MI Rod Builders a while back. I'll shoot you an email and we can start the conversation about a possible joint event.
