I need to finish up a project spinning rod that is being built on a 7' 6" Ml MHXL902 blank. using a 1500 or 2000 size reel.
I am going to use minima SV guides. The train that I am thinking of is 25 16 12 10 8 8 8 8 top. I am not used to doing a longer rod like this. Rod will be for throwing small jigs (1/4 oz) plastics and popping corks. Any help will be appreciated. thanks, Re: Guide train light saltwater spinnign rod

John,
Just to be on the safe side you might want to order an extra running guide. A static loading of the blank will tell you if it is needed. Don Campbell don@sensorfishingrods.com Re: Guide train light saltwater spinnign rod

With minima 4 guides I prefer the M guides followed by F guides as runners. The M's give you a higher frame than the SV's. Have not tried the minima4 ZV frames yet but they also have a high frame. I recently built a 7'6" ML for the same purposes as you described for speckled trout and reds. I set it up as follows: 20M, 10M, 6M, followed by (7) 4F's and matching tip top. Guide placement was similar to the fuji KR system. Using a stradic 2500 loaded with 15 lb braid and a floro leader (FG knot) this setup throws 1/4 - 3/4 oz jigs and lures extremely well. If you are going to use mono might move to 25M, 12M, 7M followed by 5F or 6F as runners (6 or 7 depending on static testing).
