Minima's - black finish in saltwater?

Don't build many rods for salt fishing. I have the black finish Minima's in the shop - CF4CG06 fly's - will this finish do OK on a lighter saltwater rod? How about TiCh finish on tip tops?

Thanks!

I believe they should work fine. A friend of mine has an inshore saltwater rod and they look fine on his. But I do believe he washes all his rods down after he uses them

lightly washing saltwater rod after use is common sense, will prolong the useful life of your equipt

I believe any metal will corrode(oxidize) if abused or neglected. Barry and Michael are on target.

For fresh water rods a MINIMUM EFFORT would be to make sure the rod is wiped dry in between uses and for salt water rods wipe down with a wet (water) cloth and dried in between uses.
If long term storage is called for then any rod should be thoroughly cleaned with cleanser and completely dried and for greater insurance waxed prior to storage.

To answer your questions

The black finish minima's will be fine for salt water use.

The TiCh finish is fine but not really necessary.

They'll be fine & as stated above just make sure that the salt is washed after use .I've built heaps rods using them & have yet to have a problem .I tell my customers that if they want to keep it rust free to "Have a shower with it " .That gets laughs but enforces the culture of cleaning after use .

G Loomis in years past before the buy out used Pac Bay black guides on the saltwater rods, as has Lamiglas and others, can't imagine Pac Bay wouldn't be fine now after 30+ years experience at it.

They work great. No problems. Like others have said, wash after using. Good luck.
