Butt cap ideas???

I realize that a big part of rod building is having the ability to be creative but, I'm stumped on this one. I'm building a med.-heavy saltwater rod for a young friend for Christmas. He is emphatic about the color yellow so I want to use as much yellow as I can. I'd like to use a yellow EVA grip which was easy to find from a sponser but, I can't find anything yellow to use as a butt cap. To me, black rubber or EVA stick out like a sore thumb on a yellow, grey, silver, and graphite rod. I've got "creativity block"! Anyone have any ideas??? Thanks

In a recent Rodmaker it showed the steps to make a butt grip using cork as the body and a yellow foam practice golf ball cut in half as the cap. Very innovative and it will give you the color you are looking for.

Ooohhhhh! Shame on me! That's what I get for letting my Rodmaker subscription lapse! I think I understand what you mean and I like that idea. Thank you Pat

Use contact cement to laminate 1,5" squares cut out of yellow EVA foam then turn it down on the lathe. you can mix it up with cork or other materials for accents. I put a hard rubber piece on the but for durability

You can buy white nylon caps for round chair/table legs at many stores like Lowes' or H D in various ID's. They are easily dyed using Rit fabric dye. Made many of them over the years.

To follow up on Randolph's suggestion: marble the cap using the colors you are using for the thread work, etc.
