Just curious - I have 3 drills that I can use to turn cork and birch handles. 1400, 2000, and 2800 RPM. I have used the 1400 and 2000 but not the 2800. Just looking for some opinions as to which is the better speed. The handles are glued on the blank when I turn them. Thanks for any and all input. Re: Maximum Turning RPM

Generally, the smaller the diameter of the material, the faster you can turn it for the same FPM past the cutting tool. I'd use either 2000 or 2800 for cork.

Richard,
When I use the lathe, I start with coarse shaping at a slower speed like 1000 rpm, but for the final finishing I go up to the highest speed of 3500 rpm. Be safe Re: Maximum Turning RPM
