Joe Meehan spent a day with me back in the Spring. He brought several dozen samples of AMTAK's line of blanks and I was very impressed with the straightness and high quality finish of them. I have not used any, but I have to admit they looked very nice. Might be very well worth your while to purchase one and see what you think. I'm betting they are an excellent value.

I picked up the 9' ft. for the 11-12 weight line, I was also surprised of the blank quality with the finish and straightness on it for a low end blank. I did notice though that the blank information, line size etc. will be hidden under the cork grip once all has been glued in.The blank splined with no problem, and have the blank setup with the guides reel seat and handle ready to finish. I decided on a gudebrod 441 charcoal for the wrap and a ice blue metallic for the trim, looks like an eye catcher to me.
Jann's Netcraft carry this blank here, on this sight that's how I found the blank.
I was curious about the imported blank history?Any infomation appreciated.

I built an AMTAK 8' for 5-6 wt. line as a donation for our local fly fishing club and was very much impressed with the finish, straightness and ease in finding the spine. It's also a good caster.

We have also seen a range of AMTAK blanks here in Perth Western Australia we were impressed with what we saw and believe me we are hard to impress.
