Dark brown rod blank

Somewhere about 45 years ago my grandfather gave my two cousins and I a rod and reel set for Christmas. I have used it ever since and caught many fish with the set.
However, the rod has gotten so old it is no longer usable. The wraps are unraveling, the guides are corroded and the reel seat has welded shut from years of salt water and sand. Because of the brittleness of the rod I am not planning on refurbishing it. But I am hoping to build one like it. The rod was a Heddon, 2 piece, 6'6" med action rod, bark Brown in color. I have looked online trying to find a similar blank in dark brown and have not found one yet. Can anyone here direct me to a vendor that might sell blanks on this color? Thanks. PS: The Heddon 270-L reel, although slightly pitted, still works great and will go on the new rod. Re: Dark brown rod blank

It's not quite a color match to your Heddon, but Rodgeeks metallic copper is stunning held in daylight. They have some moderate action glass blanks that might come close what you want.

Barry, I just found out that one old rodbuilder from my area passed away and it is/was a friend's grandfather. He just contacted me yesterday to have me help him sort through the 200 plus blanks that he has. I can be on the lookout for one similar to yours. Might even have a similar reel seat. Send me an email with a couple pics and I'll see what I can find. I should be going over tomorrow or Sunday to start looking over blanks. Re: Dark brown rod blank

Browning marketed brown (!) fiberglass rods for a while. Re: Dark brown rod blank

What line an lure rating are you looking for? That would help a lot. Re: Dark brown rod blank

Do a search on the big @#$%& site for the rod that you want.
ie. Brown, 6'6" medium action, 2-piece fishing rod. There are a large number of rods being sold that meet that description. Be safe and [www.google.com] Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/11/2015 07:44PM by roger wilson. Re: Dark brown rod blank

Just curious if you're grandfather happened to be smallmouth bass fishing legend Billy Westmoreland? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
