I completed a rod a few months ago that looked great! The epoxy (prokote) recently slightly receded and somewhat curled at each end of the guide wraps. It was not overly thick and had a very nice taper about 1/8" past the thread on the guide wraps. What could cause this? Jon Hood Re: epoxy issue

Most likely, in my opinion, is contamination/wax/oil on the blank, assuming you used syringes to assure proper mix on the epoxy. But since it hardened properly, mix is not likely the issue. The curling comment indicates, I believe, a failure of the epoxy to bond to the blank. Re: epoxy issue

Possible - but I always wipe down with denatured alcohol and dry just prior to applying epoxy. Re: epoxy issue

Next time don't wipe it down I would dare say it is probably the alcohole that is causing this
Clean the blank when you get it Test buy bending to make sure there are no defects in it Then build When wrapping keep your hands clean so no contamination on the thread Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
