Also, Tom Kirkman just published an article in the recent Rodmaker magazine on laminating EVA strips to create variegated colorings.
Some of the sponsors sell jigs for cutting cork rings in creative ways. By using different colors of cork (or other ring materials) pieces can be reassembled to create geometric designs. Here's a link you can check out:

You can also get in touch with Wayne Diduch up in Canada, he has a unique jig for what he calls, I believe, a king's crown. He might share the plans to make the jig with you.
