I'm looking to use these guides for a 5'6" L, and a 6'1" L blank. I will be using 10lb braid to a 4lb fluoro leader(possibly 15lb braid to 6lb leader for the 6'1" blank), with a standard bobber stop. I will be throwing 1/32-1/8oz jigs. Reels I'm using will be either a 500, 1000, or 1500 size. I haven't decided which reels I will use quite yet.
My question is what size/style should I use? Right now my plan is the high foot style with a basic 16-8-4 train. At the end of the train would it be okay to use the fly guide style? I plan on buying excess of them since I'm two rods, and so I can play around with the static placement. Re: Minima guide size/style questions

I would use the high frame spinning type for the first two guides and then low frame single foot fly/casting type for the choker and remainder. I think you're on the right track.

Why such heavy braid if you don't mind me asking? I'd go 6-braid 4-flor --------- 8-braid 6 flor. Are you fishing in heavy downed wood? Jaa Re: Minima guide size/style questions

At times there are lay downs and a "little" bit of standing timber but not really. Are you using fireline? Honest truth why I have that setup is because is what I'm accustom to, and I haven't had any problems with casting distance or anything. Re: Minima guide size/style questions

Miles, I feel I get Alot more performance and catch more fish on my lighter rods with the lighter lines I listed above. Light rod- small reel = light line and you have a nice Balanced outfit, Great choice on the Minima guides by the way, light strong and cheap , That's why I build my own rods vs buying them, to keep them light and as sensitive as I can. It's a personal choice that's all. I use Power-Pro basically same line just a different name. Tight Lines - Have fun!! Jaa Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/28/2015 02:30PM by Jay Dubay. Jay, when I spool up the reels for this I will give it a shot, no reason why to not give it a try! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
