A couple of eva grips that I installed a few years ago have come loose not fully detached but I can feel that it's partially loose . 1 can I fix the existing ones is thier away to re glue it ... And going forward how should I avoid this ... I know some grove the inside of the grip does this work and how do I do it... Maybe some suggestions of what I am doing wrong here. James

We offer 5ML luer lock syringes with a large gauge needle. You can use the syringe/needle combo to "inject epoxy back under the EVA to secure it to the rod again. Rods flex their entire working life, glue gets brittle over time and they come loose it happens sometimes...nothing you did wrong per se. Good Luck!

For future installs, consult the FAQs page here on how to ensure that the epoxy gets in-between the grip and the rod blank, and not just pushed down the rod blank as you install the grip.

I'm not really into EVA grips but I question Epoxy as an adhesive for EVA? Hard setting glue on softer foam grip? Versus a rubber type adhesive such as Welders glue for a more flexible bond? This is not statement, It's a learning question for me, As I'm sure I will run into someone who wants an EVA grip in the future. Thanks, Jay

Epoxy is fine for EVA. The grip didn't come loose due to any failure of the epoxy. Installation error almost guaranteed.

When I put any eva on I first get it to fit where it should sit -- Not Tight Yet snug Able to be turned buy hand
In place I mark the end Pull the eva back and where it is loose I tape the blank area I then put rod bond over the tape all the way to where it sits Then I slide the eva over the tape and Make Sure The Rod Bond seems to coat the inside of the grip turning it and the blank when I think it is coated I then slide it in place in a turning fashion Clean it all up Pull the tape off Which cleans the blank of the rod bond Then wash it all off
Have yet to have any come loose

The area where the eva sits is also sanded for a better grip

Yeh tom I agree I think I let too much epoxy get squeezed out. Maybe EVA. too tight on the blank one of them I heated up with hot water an I remember I t was really tight more then it should have been. .always learning ... Thanks for the advice

Sounds to me like no water break free surface was applied. Its most definite "pilot error". That learning curve we all experience.

Sounds to me like the grip was fitted to loosely.

I never had one too tight. Too loose yes but never too tight. I have wrestled with a few before I learned years ago to lube with epoxy. The tighter the better jay. Only exception is if inlayed careful not to split the seam or glue line.

I personally instal EVA grips exactly the same way that I install cork grips.
I ream the EVA so that it is a firm fit on the blank, but can still be turned and moved up and down the blank.

Then, I will start with the grip well above the final location and liberally coat the rod blank. I will then slide the EVA grip up and down the coated blank and turn it as well. This insures that I have an excellent full coat of epoxy on the inside of the EVA grip.

Then, with the lower and final portion of the rod blank coated with epoxy, I will just slip it into its final position knowing that the inside of the grip has been well coated with epoxy. Never have had any slip.
