looking to ID old st croix reel seat

I have a photo of this rod only. Angler is looking to ID what kind of reel seat goes on the rod. It appears to be in near mint condition with a friction fit type of reel seat. Does anyone know what goes on here? More importantly does anyone have one that I can buy?

Thanks,
Buzz
PS I called St. Croix they were able to give an age of the rod but not part needed

The butt would most likely be comprised of a hickory butt fitted with a chrome over brass boat rod seat. The blank butt ferrule fits into that and screws down onto it. It was a very common arrangement for older style boat rods from the 50's, 60's and 1970's.

Tom is right. It is either a Lakeland or Varmac reel seat. Both are no longer made.

I have an old Varmac RS 2 chrome plated reel seat. It has an ID of ~20 mm, and comes with a male ferrule having an ID of 19mm. I do not have a handle for it. If you want it you can have it. Send me an email.

Hello Buzz.

It could also be a Lakeland, there are a bunch of styles & Sizes.

Stock# Seat O.D. Length
Spinning
1. 3163 0.875 4.620
2. 5163 1.00 4.875
Casting
3. 35F 0.750 5.750
4. 3160F 0.813 6.125

Jann's carried another type (I think they were the VS's but I am not sure)(These are Press fit and not a screw fit)

Stock# Seat O.D. Seat I.D. Length

1. 252-400 .875 .813 4-7/8"
2. 252-401 1.00 .906 5"

Hope this helps.

Tight Wraps & Tighter Lines.

Bob,

New Bern, NC.
