Just curious because a lot of guys in my area love the green water and that is their main rod. They said they would have me make some rods for them if I found something similar to the green water. So my question is, What blank out there is close to the specs and feel of the green water?

If you can get your hands on a few of those rods, you can run the CCS numbers, ERN, AA and very importantly, the CCF. Add in length and weight, of course, then match all those as close as possible to available blanks with similar numbers.

The reason that I mentioned that the CCF would be very important is that it's the piece of the puzzle that gets you beyond just power and action - it deals with response and depending on the material the blank is made from, even another black with identical power and action might not "fell" the same. I'm assuming your customers are after something just as close as they can get, including the way those rods feel. Keep in mind that while the addition of guides won't change the action any, they will affect the power very slightly (reduce) and also slow the response a little. So when matching a rod to a blank, you might want the blank's numbers to be just on the high side of what the finished rod's numbers are. Slightly.

Talk with the good people at Batson Rainshadow to the left they carry Gary Loomis' new North Fork Composites blanks, many are very similar to the blanks your looking for. I've seen more of the GW line built on the G Loomis hot shot blanks like the 981, 930, 9000, and 941. The MB941 MHX blank at Mudhole may be an option.
