I've decided to build my first rod on a Hydra blank. For those in the know, which blank would be best suited for square bills and medium diving crank baits.
Much appreciated, Richard Re: Very new to custom rod building

Personally I would go with the BT903C as I prefer the longer length on CB rods....a little more distance on the casts. Don Campbell don@sensorfishingrods.com Re: Very new to custom rod building

Thank you Don.
Would either of the two blanks mentioned serve well for the smaller hooks associated with the square bill crank baits? Re: Very new to custom rod building

Richard,
CB rods are designed to flex deeper into the blank to avoid a hook being thrown by the fish or torn out of the mouth when landing. If you have quality hooks on the square bill either blank should work fine. I normally replace the hooks that come on crankbaits with a better quality hook.
